database Engineer II
The MS SQL Database Engineer quickly adapts to new and
changing technologies. Responsible for supporting and coordinating
database activities. This includes deploying scripts,
database performance tuning, monitoring, resolving client related
problems, and monitoring all database related work orders in a timely manner.
Responsibility Overview:

Verify and Run scripts written by programmers in Production, UAT
and DEV environment
·
Diagnose and resolve production problems
·
Proactive Maintenance and Monitoring of all Instances of SQL
2014, 2016
·
Work closely with other IT team members to successfully maintain
and monitor the SQL servers.
·
To ensure that all client requests are handled in a timely
manner
·
Adhere to and suggest improvements to the Change Management
Process
·
SQL security and planning; maintaining and creating user
accounts for proper access; SQL Agent job scheduling and monitoring; SQL/Server
system tables; SQL Profiler and Enterprise Manager; and Server monitoring to
ensure adequate CPU, disk space, and memory on all SQL servers
·
Document and improve existing processes
·
Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills,
both written and verbal
Specific Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
Required:
·
Knowledge of SQL Server administration tools
·
Experience with High Availability (Always -On)
and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
·
Experience interpreting SQL language scripts
·
Experience writing PowerShell scripts
·
Experience with database maintenance tasks
·
Experience with monitoring tools (i.e., SolarWinds, Sumo)
·
Familiarity with Agile principles
and Scrum methodologies.
·
Experience managing large SQL Server environments with latest
versions of SQL Server.
· Familiarity with On- Prem and Cloud Hosted Environments (AWS RDS/EC2 experience a plus)
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies a plus but
not required:
·
MySQL, NoSQL Postgres, Mongo relational databases
·
Experience with NuoDB, Snowflake
·
Experience with PowerShell, Python, GitHub, Jira, SolarWinds DPA
·
Experience working in DevOps / Site Reliability Engineering
environments
·
Qualifications:
·
Relevant degree preferred
·
5+ years SQL experience required
